Luso's Handy Guide to MetalheadsSince this has been coming up a lot lately: -This is satire, not meant to offend; -Most of these are male simply because most metalheads are male, that does not mean that a 'male' archetype cant be applied to a female metal fan. -The female archetypes are portrayed as such because they are specifically female archetypes, non-applicable to males, and while they may seem 'insulting', they aren't meant to be any more insulting than any of the other ones, since i make fun of guys just as much as i make fun of girls. -This is an ongoing series, and as thus, more archetypes are to come, females included, meaning that the female archetypes i come up with aren't all 'negative' -If, after all of this you still choose to be offended and find this sexist, well, then that's beyond my grasp and you should just lower your political correctess-related sensitivity switch for a while and chill. Thank you CommentsHi, I love your guides. I have seen most of them myself, its fun as hell.
Some Suggestions, if you like. International (third world metalhead): - Anywhere between 25-35. - Supports metal culture, has a collection of all the metal documentaries - Most probably running a blog or actively participating heavily on Online forums - Has gone to or is saving up for Wacken or Inferno Festivals - Will think/talk about it for the next 30 years - Wears either Iron Maiden/Moterhead Tee or the bands that have visited his country in the last year - The metal scene is always bad in his home country - Has a cell phone in hand to record concerts and put it on his YouTube channel - Either has long, slightly bald hair or has a recent crew cut for the night shift job - Says he listens to extreme death metal or melo death or black metal. But strongly maintains that one of big 4 to b e his favourite - Seems casual in the concert, but secretly worried about his passport on the bag outside the venue - Mostly seen on the line to the backstage - Is not annoying until he starts asking questions about his webzine I can only think of this much. thanks I love these, but I concur with the suggestion of more positive female metal fan representations.
How about a 'Viking Metal Chick' (aka 'Sheild Maidens')? We Vikings are not 'trophies', nor are we pissy little metal 'Grrrrrls'. We are fans who love the music, can hold our own in the pit, and we are many Keep up the great work! xoxoxo I understand that you're probably backed up on suggestions, but I've been thinking a bit, and I'd like you to consider these two that I've seen around here:
Modern Metal Guy -playlist typically includes Amon Amarth, newer Behemoth, Wintersun, Eluveitie, Rhapsody (of Fire), Dark Tranquility, newer Blind Guardian, Ensiferum, and other such artists. Probably secrectly like Cradle of Filth, DragonForce, and Dimmu Borgir, but most likely won't admit it. May or may not admit to liking Children of Bodom. -Worships Jari Maenpaa as God. -Either defends newer In Flames or savagely tears it apart. -Look is certainly metal, yet somewhat nondescript. Usually wears plain black shirt, relatively loose black pants (but not quite Nu-Metal kid loose), often has spiked bracelets or some accessory, has long but well-kept hair. -Most likely skinny and nerdy. -Overall cheery disposition. -Overall an amalgam of the Black Metaller, Viking Metaller, and Power Metaller; acts most like the Power Metal guy, however. -Looks like/is this guy: [link] (bad pic I guess, but ey) And since you're in need of positive female ones, The Metal Mom -Despite the name, most likely isn't a mom; looks like one, however. -Is clearly a veteran of the scene, and will let you know with her stories about the band whose shirt you're wearing. -Short and stout now, but was most likely smoking hot in her day. -Almost always seen with a beer. Somehow, despite this, is not an alcoholic and usually sober. -Knows every single metal band that has eer existed and loves all of them except for one or two whom she hates and harasses at any given opportunity. -Overall very hearty and kind, except toward false metal; there, no mercy is shown. -Vintage Metal Church shirt. I'd suggest a Traditional Heavy Metaller, but thrash metal seems to have swallowed up that scene; at least in America, once Judas Priest and Motörhead albums hit shelves, everyone (with the exception of Metal Church) started a thrash metal band, and now all the veteran old-timers here who listen to lots of trad metal are basically general old-school metalheads. Anyways though, keep it up, everything so far is hilarious an 110% true! hah those are actually pretty good suggestions, altough i sort of make a point out of doing all of these completely by myself..
thanks anyway though, appreciated |
