This was one i debated for some time wether to make/submit or not, because, arguably, deathcore doesn't have anything to do with metal. Well, despite me, personally, not considering it "real" metal, i believe it is still relevant to this series, taking into account how much it borrows from metal, and how close its own subculture runs in with metal sometimes.
The accuracy on this one may be a little less spot on than on the others, seeing as i never really attended many deathcore shows, and mostly based this off of a handfull of friends of mine mostly into deathcore.
I kind if wanted to refrain using the "deathcore kid" denomination, as i feel it may be somewhat derrogatory, but honestly, i couldnt find anything that sounded any better.
in any case, here's one more for the series.
So, after a few years passing, and many, many metal shows attended, i couldn't help but to notice the diferent archetypes and demographics in the metalhead culture that i kept coming across. And since i never saw any kind of descriptive charts that accurately portrayed the metal subculture i so dearly know and love, i decided to do it myself!
So, based on people that i know, people that i merely saw, often or not that often, and on blunt personal experience, i began scribbling out a few, and constructed many more in my mind, which is to say, that there will be quite a few before i'm done.
Also remember this is not meant to offend. It's all harmless satire, more often than not
So yes. Hope you enjoy Luso's Handy Guide to Metalheads
Son just emailed me this link and I inhaled a perfectly good glass of chianti. Have met every one of them (Pantera guy most frequently, I regret to say). And oh dear, I think I'm the female incarnation of Mainstreamallica.
Br00t dude would've been nice. Also, you should've drawn him with those checkered shoes and a v-neck displaying his cheesy chest tattoo. But all in all, still funny.
I'm intrigued, why wouldn't you consider it Metal? Given, the majority of Deathcore bands (which also happen to be the shittiest examples of 'decent' Deathcore) like; Suicide Silence, Emmure, Chelsea Grin, I Declare War, and Dr. Acula completely suck ass. These bands shouldn't make people disregard actually good bands that do the genre justice, to name a couple; Slice the Cake, Veil of Maya, and All Shall Perish which are great examples to portray the genre in a good lighting. Deathcore, for lack of better terms, would be... Hm, an 'evolution' of Death Metal (saying this, I'm NOT saying obsolete or dead, simply stating that this genre came from another one). The genre itself consists of breakdowns, growling and screaming which are all prevalent in one sub-genre of Death Metal to another, definitely not just in one. Eh, just my thoughts on the whole thing. I listen to every genre of Metal. Just thought I spread my opinion around on one of the many.
I dunno, i dont necessarily consider it non-metal.. but at the same time i dont really consider it proper metal.
I do admit and accept it has in it some derivative form of metal (some bands more than others), but i always think it to be more closely related to hardcore, and maybe even punk, a little. I'm talking about the music, aswell as the fans, mentality, and philosophy, if you will, and that whole package i find it to be pretty removed from what metal usually is. However, unlike most metal fans i dont really have anything against it or shun it, i just consider it something mostly on the outskirts of the metal world. I enjoy a couple of bands, even.
